I've been sharing my saga of when things break down in Paradise and how they get resolved. So where I left you yesterday, I had awakened and my fridge was not running. I talked to a neighbor, who called a refrigeration guy for me, and even though it was Sunday, they said they'd come and have a look between 4-6 pm. At about half past 4, I called my friend and chatted, we talked, we hung up, and she called them and said if they didn't come then we'd call someone else.
So that did it and about 7 pm they showed up. They were very happy and cheerful, I thought, hmmmmmmm why are they so cheerful, it's Sunday after all, and usually I get hellos with new workmen, but these two were practically giddy. As they got to work, pulling out the fridge, I was cleaning up the kitchen after having cooked a few things. Then a decidedly 'alcoholic-perfume' came wafting over me like a pink-elephant-cloud. I thought "oh-oh, are they able to see and fix things?" I just kind of peeked from time to time, and listened to what they were talking about. So it seemed like, even though they were 'happy', they were lucid enough.
Juan Ramon, the brother of Pancho, the boss, turned in my direction and told told me it was the relay, the tripping mechanism was burned out. The condenser was fine, so they had to go and get a new one. What a relief I was beginning to feel. They went laughing out and I thought, "Gosh, I hope they come back."
So I kept busy, I tried to read a novel, and just stayed calm. When they got back, they were even more cheerful and quite giggly, so getting the part wasn't the only thing they did and they came in barefoot and asking me every five minutes for a flashlight, and a screwdriver and laughed at the amount of fur-like lint on the back of the fridge!
Finally, success, with the part in hand, they installed it, reset everything and the fridge was good as new! It was about 45 dollars for parts and labor, with the tip for coming on Sunday! Off they went saying we do everything, call us for everything, and laughing gleefully, they drove off! This is Paradise!
